This morning, Civic Force dispatched an emergency assistance team to the areas affected by Typhoon No.19 (Hagibis) with partner organizations, Asia-Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management Japan (A-PAD Japan) and Peace Winds Japan.
Hagibis brought record levels of rainfall to the Tohoku and Kanto-Koshinetsu regions. As of October 13, submerged buildings and landslides have been reported across wide areas. In collaboration with partner organizations, the team headed to the affected areas via airplane, two helicopters, and three vehicles carrying boats, rescue equipment, and relief items. The assistance activities began today.
The emergency assistance team was dispatched to areas severely affected by the overflooded Chikuma River in Nagano Prefecture and other affected areas observered from the air. At the affected areas, Civic Force will provide medical care, search and rescue operations, distribution of relief items, and volunteer coordination. Civic Force is working with the local authorities, businesses, hospitals, and NGOs to provide much needed assistance to the people affected by the disaster as quickly as possible.
The details of the assistance activities will be available later. Thank you for your generous support.
