【Typhoon 13】 Emergency Assistance Launched in Ibaraki and Fukushima Prefectures
Heavy rains brought by Typhoon 13 caused severe flooding across Fukushima, Ibaraki, and Chiba Prefectures on September 9, 2023.
While the full extent of the damage is yet to be seen, Civic Force’s emergency team, ARROWS, was dispatched to Fukushima and Ibaraki Prefectures on September 10 to conduct needs assessments.
A crowdfunding page was launched today to support the people affected by the disaster.
Iwaki City in Fukushima Prefecture was particularly hard hit - more than 1,200 houses were flooded above the floor level, and recovery work is underway in the affected areas. The team visited two districts in Iwaki City, Uchigo and Nakoso, where more than 90% of the flooding occurred above floor level.
In partnership with SEMA (Social Emergency Management Alliance), the team plans to distribute beverages and hygiene items in Fukushima and Ibaraki.
Available relief items can be browsed on Good Links for aid organizations supporting the affected residents. Good Links, an online platform operated by Civic Force, connects corporate partners looking to provide goods and services to aid organizations in need of resources.
