【2023 Heavy Rain】 Civic Force Delivers Portable Water Bags and Disposable Toilets from Saga to Fukuoka
Three days have passed since heavy rain hit northern Kyushu on July 10. On the morning of July 12, extremely heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, struck Fukuoka and Saga Prefectures, which had already been severely damaged. Fortunately, the weather improved in the afternoon and removal work of mud and debris continued in the heat.
On July 12, Civic Force delivered 250 water supply bags to a hospital in Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture, experiencing a water outage. The hospital was running out of disposable toilets that Civic Force previously delivered so an additional 4,000 units were delivered the same day.
Many relief supplies such as drinks were delivered to the hospital, but they could not be stored in appropriate areas. In response, Civic Force lent utility carts and folding containers to organize and store the supplies.
“Thank you so much for your assistance. Because you were with us from day one, we have been able to clean up and restore little by little.”
Civic Force is also focusing on efforts to stockpile and manage relief supplies in order to implement needed assistance activities as soon as possible in the event of a disaster. The relief items distributed during this month’s operations have been taken out from a warehouse set up in Saga Women’s Junior College.
In June, Civic Force held a training session with Amazon on transporting goods. The team also ensures that the stockpile maintains adequate inventory, including drinking water, clothing, andd emergency toilets, in the event of a disaster. In the wake of the recent floods, Civic Force shared the relief supplies list with aid organizations to maximize distribution.
It is expected that it will take a long time to recover from the damage. Civic Force will continue to provide support in Saga and Fukuoka.
