【2023 Heavy Rain】Civic Force Delivers Electric Cart and Power Washers to Karatsu, Saga Pref.
On July 15, the team visited the mountainous area of Karatsu City in Saga to deliver relief supplies and equipment. Karatsu was heavily impacted by landslides and the severity of the damages were still visible as the team drove through the city.
Today, Civic Force delivered an electric cart, emergency toilets, and beverages to the Nanayama area. There are many narrow roads and steep slopes in the affected mountainous areas, making it difficult to transport wet tatami mats and daily necessities. Some houses are damaged and the residents cannot use their toilets.
Nanayama area is a hub for Civic Force’s partner organizations such as Saga Disaster Support Platform (SPF) and Yaomoyai Volunteer Center. The relief supplies and equipment were first delivered to their offices. Aid organizations said “Electric cart makes it easy to go up steep slopes. This is very helpful.”
In addition, Civic Force delivered an electric cart, high-pressure washers, beverages, and portable power supplies to a volunteer center in Karatsu. The portable power supplies can be used for response teams on the ground when they need to access their computers.
The power supplies were donated by Jackery Japan through SEMA (Social Emergency Management Alliance).
“There are houses that have suffered more damage than initially reported. It is possible that the affected areas have yet to receive assistance, so the need for assistance will likely continue to increase."
Civic Force will continue to deliver assistance that meet the needs of the affected residents and carry out activities with an eye toward medium to long-term recovery.
*The account holder's names for the banks are "Civic Force" or "公益社団法人Civic Force シャ)シビックフォース".
**Please note that 15% of your donation will be allocated to general operating expenses.
