Civic Force Dispatches Two Staff Members for Needs Assessment
From the evening of July 2 to the morning of July 3, the Kanto and Tokai regions were hit by a record level of heavy rains. On July 3, Atami in Shizuoka Prefecture was struck by a massive mudslide. Many houses were swept away and search and rescue operations are ongoing for missing persons.
On July 5, Civic Force dispatched two staff members to Atami for needs assessments as a prolonged evacuation is anticipated for the evacuees. The team will be conducting needs assessments and supporting evacuation center management in partnership with the local municipality. Civic Force has also sent 3,000 masks and 500 bottles of hand sanitizers to Atami. These relief items were kept in stock by Civic Force in case of emergency.
